I am excited to be with you. Say yes and give yourself the gift of peace, calm and more resilience to live your best life.

About the Facilitator

CHP Headshot Fall 2021

Christine Powers

Christine amplifies the amplifiers, calling forth the embodiments of presence, fulfillment, and passion within us. She is a “spiritual consigliere” where business, spirituality, fulfillment, and legacy intersect. She is a sage, not the Queen but the “Queen Whisperer."

She is writing her first book, “From Woo to the Woods: A Manifesto for GenX Women.” Christine is a certified Death Doula, walking side-by-side into the places in your soul that need the most love.

In her early 30s, a life-changing event occurred at the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, Poland. After performing The Kaddish (Song for the Dead) in concert, a profound interaction with Holocaust survivors consciously awoke her powerful healing voice. More than 300,000 people have heard her voice around the world. She is retired from opera and focuses on healing sound and the joy of singing for the sake of song and story.

Parallel to her singing, her executive career skyrocketed, and she was unexpectedly thrust into a dark night of her soul, a cosmic rite of passage. She emerged knowing what is hers to do: support others in being “Professional Phoenixes” ~ always dying and being reborn to ourselves. And how natural and beautiful this is.

Christine has expertise in marketing, branding, PR, events, and fundraising and a lifetime of training in East and West mystical traditions. She CEO and Founder of Asa Adirondack and The Philosophers Camp. She is an award-winning international soprano, Verditas Labyrinth Facilitator, Reiki Master-Teacher, sound healer, Mary Magdalene initiate, Sufi initiate, and an ordained minister in the Order of Melchizedek.

Jerry Petell

Jerry is a special guest for this retreat. He has been an experienced guide in Tai chi, Qigong, meditation, and mind-body practices for over 25 years. With a Master's in Social Work and certifications as a Reiki Master and Intuitive Counselor, Jerry's expertise extends to Integral Qigong and Tai Chi. Jerry is a board member of Unity Church of Albany, and he follows the teachings of Her Holiness Sai Maa.

During our retreat, Jerry will offer transformative "Meditation in Motion" sessions. Tai chi and Qigong are ancient Chinese art forms that blend meditation in motion with posture, breath, and mental focus to harmonize the body's energy systems. This self-balancing and healing practice taps into the body's inherent capacities for self-healing. Accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities, each movement is performed slowly, enhancing balance, flexibility, muscle control, mood, and concentration.

About the Adirondack Labyrinth

"In a class of its own"

Taking 33 months, 3200 volunteer hours, counting, and over $55,000 to conceptualize, design and build, the Adirondack Labyrinth opened on August 1 as a destination for peace and contemplation.

Called “in a class of its own” by labyrinth experts, this labyrinth is honored to be the Seventh Legacy Labyrinth in the world by the Legacy Labyrinth Project, an offshoot of Veriditas. The idea germinated when Christine Powers met Susan Howard of Mary's Labyrinth in Saskatchewan, Canada (also a Legacy Labyrinth and pictured higher on this page). Christine was pulled into the imagery of building a labyrinth at Asa. Spirit kept calling, and the dream kept building.

“The energy of this trio is powerful and palpable.”

Guided to Tony Christie, a renowned labyrinth expert from Ireland, by powerful synchronicities, Tony was brought on to the project in December 2021 as the designer. Larry Powers, Christine's spouse, is the chief builder and caretaker of the labyrinth; Christine is the guardian and facilitator.

We invite you to experience a retreat on the newly completed labyrinth.

We've got A's for your Q's

  • How do we get around? Walking! And, Asa Adirondack (Asa ADK) has a four-person golf cart, quad, and side-by-side to assist as needed. You will walk several places on the acreage, and some accommodations are about .2 miles apart from our base camp, Stillman House.
  • Is it hilly? Uneven ground? This is a mountain setting with hills and inclines. There are dirt roads and trails to access locations where we gather. This is probably not a good venue for you if you cannot navigate small inclines and uneven ground.
  • What kind of shoes do I need? Sturdy walking shoes such as sneakers are fine. Hikers will be necessary if you wish to go off-trail.
  • Do I need special equipment? No. Bring common items like a water bottle, sunscreen, ball cap, bug spray, casual clothes, rain gear, extra layers for chilly nights, etc. You will receive a letter detailing the list of items to bring.
  • What about bugs? Wildlife? Bears? Insects and ticks are part of everyday life. Asa ADK will supply DEET repellent (even if you spray on clothes only) in addition to regular/organic bug sprays. Bring long pants and long-sleeve shirts for hiking. Wildlife (beavers, deer, turkeys, etc.) is abundant, and you are lucky to see any! Black bears live in these forests, and we have had no problems with them.
  • What kind of food do you serve? We serve hearty, healthy, and delicious omnivore, vegetarian, and vegan selections. There will be ample snacks available and plenty of fluids! We discuss dietary needs with every participant.
  • How big will this group be? Participation is limited to 16 overnight and 10 day participants plus facilitators.
  • What are the personal care facilities available? Multiple shower locations with individual, private showers are available. Some require a short walk and some are outdoor. Private bathrooms and other options are available for bio needs.
  • What time does the program begin and end? Check-in any time after 3:00 pm on Friday. This gives you time to unpack, visit, and explore. We begin Friday at 4:00 pm. We conclude Sunday at 1:00 pm. We will inform you about the schedule and may offer optional early-morning activities such as meditation, specialty hikes, and movement. Evenings run until about 8:00-8:30 pm.
  • What if I need to arrive or leave at different times? We understand you may be traveling a long distance. If you need to arrive earlier or leave later, please let us know, and we will do what we can to support your participation.
